


Canada field, so named because it was "a long way away" from the farm house, was actually only a mile or so from the farm hard, located off New River Bank, near Sandhill Bridge, Littport.
This picture, centered on Millicent Kate Sallis, my great grandmother, was taken to commemorate a bumper crop of "20 coombs per acre". With a coomb being 110kg of wheat, the crop was about 2.2 tonnes per acre, which we estimate to be about 70% of a modern yield.
